
The only problem some people have with the Steam version is that the Steam-version data files are all set as "modified" in 2010 whereas most other DVD installations have the. Oblivion loads all its files in order of when they were last modified. The only thing you (may) need to do with the Steam version is make sure the "date modified" of Oblivion's main data files is set to 2006 or so. Without knowing whether you want houses, more weapons and armor, companions, new dungeons and quests, or what-have-you, it's hard to make suggestions beyond the basics.
